What else can you do in the Midwest in 100 degree heat?

I started an online show called Word To Your Mutha  in September of 2007 after recently getting back from an adoption trip to China.  I had an 8 month old, a 10 month old, and a three year old.  It was during the madness of trying to feed everyone at once that I longed to turn on a TV show and find a mom lifestyle program that could inspire or help me as a mother. I could watch moms giving birth or adopting. I could watch celebrity moms or moms with super large families. But I was searching for a show about me.  The Everyday Mom with Everyday Mom problems.  So I decided to create one and put it on my website.

I quickly found out that producing a show as a one woman production team with three kids, no money, and no experience making shows  or being on camera was going to be a challenge. And it was.  Oh it was! The ideas I had were tricky to get onto the very small screen, but I did the best I could with the resources around me. I also learned that I was head over heels in love with the show making process and wondered if I could do this professionally one day.

The shows are currently taking a little break while I figure out what is going to happen with the Hollywood deal. I’m getting offers to make the shows for various websites and love hearing from any interested parties. Contact me through the contact link and let’s talk.

On this page you will find my favorite episodes from the show starting with this one, produced in the summer of 08. In this episode  I show moms on a budget how to beat the blasted summer heat when you have little kids and are sick of staying indoors.

vlog: Two Chairs And A Tree

I talked my husband into getting on camera with me in a non porno kinda way.  This is a short one.  Which is what you should never say when describing anything about a man.  Especially the man you love. Ba dum dum.  Hey, I’m called MUTHA for a reason.  You want cute, get a puppy.

Enrique Suave’

Miss Boo:  Dad, why won’t you play the Build a Bear game with us on the computer?

Me: Because then 12 year old girls would flirt with daddy.

Miss Boo: What does flirt mean?

Me: They’d stand close to him and throw hearts in the air.  Or they’d want to check out his stuff.

Matt: I don’t want 12 year old girls checking out my stuff.

Me: I meant the bear prizes in your inventory.

Matt: You know, there are advantages to virtual worlds where flirting is so obvious. In high school I was pathetic in recognizing when girls were flirting with me. My friends would say, “Dude, she was flirting with you all year and you didn’t do anything!”  And I would say, “Oh, that was flirting?  I thought she just wanted help with her math homework.”

A few days later while Boo played the Build A Bear game on her computer and I played on mine, I  was followed around by a little boy named Enrique. I thought it was cute until he started standing too close and tossing hearts in the air.  I voiced my concern out loud and heard my husband snicker from the other room along the with the tap tap tap of his laptop keyboard.

Like my husband in real life, my virtual husband Enrique also has issues with fashion.  Poor Enrique was wearing sandals in the snow. The only difference was the lack of socks with the sandals.

When Matt was at work I logged on his account and gave Enrique a makeover.  He now wears long shorts with a tshirt, tie, and sunglasses and carries a skateboard.  I quickly realized I had dressed my husband as Avril Levigne.

Now Matt logs in and plays the game with us.  Matt being Matt has found amusement with the drop down menu safe chat options.  He will enter a room and select, “Do you like the dress I am wearing?”  Or, “I am an actress!”  He also discovered that under the “where is” option, you can select phrases like “Bear University” or, “Paw Park.”  Except Matt chooses, “pants.”

That has become our new family catch phrase.  Where is pants?  Miss Boo and I will wander the house and shout out in distress, “Where is pants?  WHERE IS PAAAAANTS?”

I think Matt will be deleting Enrique any day now.
